Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Williams is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Williams!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a body shot.
The fighters circling - Williams throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Oooh a lovely combination from Williams sends Smith down but not out. Williams dives into side control looking to finish.


It looks like Dan Smith has been cut.

Williams has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Williams misses with a few strikes there.
Williams throws a low kick, looking for Smith's leg but Smith calmly moves out of range.
Williams throws a hook but Smith blocks it.
Williams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Williams misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Williams prevents a takedown attempt there.
Williams wants to break free but Smith has control.
Smith can't break the clinch.

Williams is trying to trip Smith. He has hold of a leg but Smith is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Williams persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Williams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith, up you get!

Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams drops Smith with a beautiful combination! Smith stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Williams is looking for the KO!


Smith is rocked!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Smith.

Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Williams prevents Smith from getting the reversal.

Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Williams counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Williams throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease.

and Williams counters with a one-two to the body.

and Williams counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Williams.
Smith controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.

Williams stands up from Smith's guard - Williams perhaps looking for a knockout.
No joy there for Williams, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Smith. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
A right-left combo lands from Smith.
Williams throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Smith counters with a series of strikes. Williams will be more careful next time no doubt.
Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Williams.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Williams counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Williams's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Williams's back!

Smith has his opponent's back but Williams is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Smith.
Williams circles away from the clinch attempt

and Williams counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith wants to sweep here but Williams controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Williams decides to stand back up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Smith's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Smith tries to hold on but Williams pushes him away.

and Williams counters with a big head kick but Smith shrugs it off.

Nick Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
