PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between August Jeaux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Jiller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jiller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Japanese Mix. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mason Jiller!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jeaux lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jiller backs up against the cage.
Jiller looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
August Jeaux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jeaux throws a series of punches but Jiller moves out of range.
Jeaux defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jiller.
A left and a right from Jeaux both land. Nice combination.
Jeaux fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jiller lunges at Jeaux with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jeaux's hand.
Jiller shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jeaux as he avoids it easily.

Jeaux lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jiller circles away quickly and effectively.
Jiller drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jeaux defends it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jiller goes for a takedown attempt but Jeaux pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
August Jeaux has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mason Jiller.

No joy there for Jeaux, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jiller is working for takedown but Jeaux is calmly controlling the position for now.

Jeaux looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Jiller throws a hook to the side of Jeaux's head but Jeaux sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jeaux went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jiller fails to land with a series of punches.
Jiller lands a jab-cross combination.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jeaux enables Jiller to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jeaux manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jiller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jeaux. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jeaux wants to stand but Jiller is controlling the position.

Jiller throws a strike but Jeaux rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jeaux really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jeaux has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jiller is proving hard to escape from.
Jiller wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jiller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that August Jeaux will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jiller looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jeaux is fending him off so far but Jiller persists. Nope, Jeaux circles away and we're back to standing.

Jiller lands a nice hook to Jeaux's body. Jeaux takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

It seemed like Jiller was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Jiller closes the distance and clinches.
Oh Jeaux is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jiller has Jeaux pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jiller pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jeaux tumbling to the mat - Jiller dives into Jeaux's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jiller postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Jeaux covers up, he's hurt! Jiller keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Jiller and the ref steps in to end the fight! Jiller can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mason Jiller!
After the fight, Mason Jiller was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
