The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lashley tries to clinch up.
Lashley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kennedy.
Kennedy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kennedy gets a takedown into half guard.
Kennedy is keen to just control but Lashley is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lashley holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

and Lashley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lashley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kennedy as he avoids it easily.

Lashley keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lashley moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Lashley throws a low kick but Kennedy avoids it.

Kennedy closes the distance but Lashley moves to the side

and Lashley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lashley wants to pass the guard but Kennedy is keeping the position.
Lashley scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Lashley postures up and lands a big shot to Kennedy's brow.
Kennedy trying to keep a closed guard but Lashley is proving a slippery customer.
Lashley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kennedy is really struggling to control Lashley but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Lashley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kennedy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kennedy has control of Lashley's left arm, preventing Lashley from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kennedy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lashley manages to get himself to full guard.

Kennedy gets to his feet - Lashley follows without any prompting.
Lashley scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Kennedy clinches but Lashley breaks the clinch
and Lashley counters with a big right hand! Oh Kennedy is in trouble here! Lashley follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
