PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sidney Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sidney Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Pete!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pete digs a good body shot into Petersen's ribs.
Pete shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Petersen pinned against the cage. Petersen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A counter left hand to the body from Petersen misses its target.

Pete has closed the distance and engaged Petersen in a clinch.
Pete is working for takedown but Petersen is calmly controlling the position for now.
Petersen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Pete.
Sidney Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Pete.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pete tries to pull guard but Petersen won't allow it.
Pete tries for a takedown but Petersen manages to get underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Petersen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jack Pete seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pete lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Petersen circles away quickly and effectively.
Pete goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Petersen tries to keep at a distance but Pete has taken the fight into the clinch.

Petersen manages to pull guard.
Pete must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pete won't allow Petersen to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petersen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Petersen pulls Pete in close to his closed guard and prevents Pete from doing any damage or advancing position.
Petersen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Petersen continues to stall.
Pete wants to stand and escape but instead Petersen has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Pete is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Petersen dives into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pete can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pete is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Petersen's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Petersen! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Pete has tapped! This one is allllll over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Sidney Petersen!
