The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Erickson tries to keep at a distance but Staff has taken the fight into the clinch.
Erickson has had enough of the clinch but Staff keeps him there for the moment.
Staff tries to work over Erickson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Staff breaks the clinch.
Erickson lands with a shot to the body.
Staff throws a leg kick that misses.
Erickson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Erickson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Staff looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
It looked like Erickson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Staff tries to clinch but Erickson moves out of range.

Staff clinches up with Erickson and pushes him back against the cage.
Staff lands a right hand that snaps the head of Erickson backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Staff keeps control of Erickson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Staff's coach down at Abobomination Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Staff's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Erickson lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Staff manages to break the clinch.
Staff tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Erickson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Erickson moves into range and connects with a jab.

Staff gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Erickson wants to stall.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Staff.
Erickson lands a shoulder strike.

Staff pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
