PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Viking (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sev Kritzkiy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kritzkiy has chosen Rasputin by Boney M as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The Viking could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sev Kritzkiy's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, The Viking!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sev Kritzkiy!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kritzkiy ducks under a wild hook from Viking.
A punch combination from Viking misses.
Kritzkiy checks a leg kick nicely.
Viking throws a low kick, looking for Kritzkiy's leg but Kritzkiy calmly moves out of range.
Kritzkiy staying out of range there.

Kritzkiy shoots in and bounces Viking off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kritzkiy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Viking utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kritzkiy looking to pass the guard.
Kritzkiy controlling from the top position.
Kritzkiy advances position into side control!
Viking could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kritzkiy tries to move to mount but Viking blocks the move with his legs.

Kritzkiy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Viking knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Viking is breathing heavily.
Kritzkiy misses with the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kritzkiy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Viking keeps working.

Kritzkiy decides to stand back up. Kritzkiy steps back and let's Viking get back to his feet.
Kritzkiy moves out of range as Viking strikes.

Kritzkiy drives through and clinches with Viking against the cage.

Kritzkiy turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Kritzkiy wants to control but Viking is keeping him busy.
Kritzkiy throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Viking works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kritzkiy is keen to just control but Viking is a slippery customer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kritzkiy not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Viking on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Nice shot lands for Kritzkiy.

Kritzkiy forces Viking back against the cage and clinches.
Kritzkiy lands a body shot in the clinch.

Kritzkiy is leaning against Viking and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Kritzkiy landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Kritzkiy lands an uppercut.

Sev Kritzkiy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kritzkiy tries for a takedown but Viking sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kritzkiy moves out of range of the strikes.
Kritzkiy ducks under a wild hook from Viking.
Viking misses with a wild combination.
Kritzkiy lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Viking at a distance.

Kritzkiy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kritzkiy looking to control but Viking is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Kritzkiy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Kritzkiy looking to secure an arm triangle but Viking defends it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Viking wants to try and get back to his feet.
Kritzkiy wants to control the pace but Viking is squirming around nicely.
Kritzkiy pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Kritzkiy looking to control but Viking is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Viking takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Kritzkiy wants to finish this one by submission but Viking is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kritzkiy.

Kritzkiy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Viking has worked his arm free - good work by Viking!

Kritzkiy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Viking has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kritzkiy but great work by Viking.
Kritzkiy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Viking tries to stand and escape but Kritzkiy is controlling the position.
Kritzkiy misses with some strikes from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kritzkiy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Viking is working away from the top position though.
Kritzkiy tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Kritzkiy is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Viking pulls his head out easily.

Viking stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kritzkiy to get to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Viking lands with a cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sev Kritzkiy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Viking will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Viking is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Viking's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Kritzkiy moves out of range of the body kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kritzkiy.
Viking throws a right hand that Kritzkiy ducks under and follows up with a left that Kritzkiy also avoids with ease.
Viking throws a push kick but Kritzkiy slaps the foot to one side.
Horrible takedown by Kritzkiy or perhaps it was just good defense by Viking which made him look bad.

Kritzkiy clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kritzkiy lands an elbow that stopped Viking in his tracks for a moment.
Kritzkiy lands an elbow just above Viking 's eye.
Viking blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kritzkiy tries to land a knee to the head but Viking blocks with his arms.

Kritzkiy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A jab from Kritzkiy finds it's way through Viking's defenses.
Kritzkiy has a takedown stuffed.
Kritzkiy lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kritzkiy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Viking is fending him off so far but Kritzkiy persists. Nope, Viking circles away and we're back to standing.
The Viking has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sev Kritzkiy.

Kritzkiy is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Viking pulls him back up using the underhooks.

The Viking is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A nice left hand lands by Kritzkiy.

Kritzkiy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Viking's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Viking duly obliges.

Kritzkiy gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Kritzkiy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kritzkiy wants to pass the guard but Viking is keeping the position.
Kritzkiy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The Viking has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Viking wriggles free and stands up.
Viking misses with a looping right.
Viking swings away with a body shot that misses

and Kritzkiy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Viking!

Kritzkiy throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Kritzkiy stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Viking scores with a nice head shot.
Viking swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Kritzkiy counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kritzkiy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kritzkiy lands a knee to the body.
Kritzkiy throws an elbow but it misses.

Kritzkiy pulls guard effortlessly.

Kritzkiy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Viking is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kritzkiy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Viking's back instead.
A lull in the action here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sev Kritzkiy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kritzkiy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
