The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Karpinov. No joy for Bunga on that attempt.
Bunga keeps the fight on the outside.
Karpinov throws a head kick that half lands.

and Bunga counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Karpinov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bunga must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Karpinov had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bunga is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Karpinov Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bunga's back instead.

Karpinov working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Bunga is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Karpinov has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Bunga taps out!
