PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klaas Engels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klaas Engels told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morgan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Engels sitting in guard here, content to control.
Morgan wants to stand and escape but Engels is having none of it.
Engels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morgan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Engels is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Engels is pushing down on Morgan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Morgan is fighting to maintain full guard but Engels has managed to sneak the leg through.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Morgan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Engels wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's time! Morgan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Morgan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Engels but Engels pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Engels turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Engels manages to end up in side control.

Morgan is fighting off a takedown attempt but Engels is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Morgan to the mat. Morgan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Engels shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Engels was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Morgan is trying to escape the position but Engels is controlling the position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Engels takes the fight into the clinch.
Engels will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Morgan up against the cage.

Engels feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well Engels has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
