PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Erwin Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daanish Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Erwin Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daanish Khan!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khan gets a clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Khan.
Khan tries for a takedown. No joy.
Khan prevents Torres from breaking the clinch.
Khan is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Khan lands with a thumping leg kick.
Khan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Torres pinned against the cage. Torres gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Torres will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Torres not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Torres really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Khan wants to control but Torres passes easily into half guard.
Khan gets full guard.
Torres throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Torres lands a couple of elbows.

Torres seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Khan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Torres's guard.

Khan lands a couple of digs.
Torres controls Khan momentarily but Khan frees himself.

Torres is working an open guard so Khan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Daanish Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Khan feints and as Torres raises his hands in defense, Khan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Khan wants to control from the top but Torres keeps moving.
Khan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Torres haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Khan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Torres wants to stand and escape but Khan is having none of it.
Torres keeping moving, preventing Khan from controlling successfully.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Torres appears to be looking for a big counter.

Torres fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Khan sprawls well initially but Torres persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Khan is pulling down on Torres's head. It's preventing any offense from Torres, at least for the moment.

Khan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Torres gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Torres with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Torres throws a big right hand that misses.
Khan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Torres is one step ahead there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Erwin Torres is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Khan throws a head kick but Torres moves out of range.

Khan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Khan throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Torres's head.


It looks like Erwin Torres has been cut.

Khan gets caught napping as Torres dives in and scores a takedown. Khan manages to retain guard.
Khan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Khan controls Torres momentarily but Torres frees himself.
Torres trying to control but Khan is working from the bottom.
Khan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Torres manages to get himself to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Khan stands up and waves to Torres to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Khan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Daanish Khan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Khan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
