Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Morton Blankenship (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teran Malt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Teran Malt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Teran Malt!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malt throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Blankenship fires out a quick counter leg kick but Malt just manages to avoid it.

Blankenship gets a double leg takedown into Malt's guard.
Blankenship postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Malt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Blankenship gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Malt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Blankenship to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Blankenship with a flurry of punches that miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blankenship is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Blankenship keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Malt's head.

Malt utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Blankenship has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Blankenship stands and steps away. Malt gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Malt closes the distance but Blankenship moves to the side

so Blankenship counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Malt wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Blankenship manages to pass to side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Blankenship connects with a nice short shot to Malt's temple.
Blankenship working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Malt is still in real trouble! Can Blankenship finish him?
