Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eugene Ayers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alistair Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Overeem is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Rush - The Anthem. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alistair Overeem!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem with a poor takedown
letting Ayers counter with a right hand.

Overeem shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ayers makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ayers.
Ayers looking for a sweep. Not yet Ayers, not yet.
Ayers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Overeem pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ayers is keeping the position for now.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ayers holds on and takes a little breather.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Overeem in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Overeem controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Overeem gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Overeem rushes Ayers and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Overeem ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Overeem no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Ayers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Overeem wants to sweep but no luck.

Ayers landing some decent shots from guard.
Overeem looking to control.
Ayers wants to get up but he can't break Overeem's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ayers really is a fat lump.
Ayers wants to stand and escape but instead Overeem has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ayers wants to sweep here but Overeem controlling him for the moment.
Ayers throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Ayers has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Overeem can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ayers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ayers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ayers got a little sloppy there for a moment and Overeem has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ayers has managed to get both his arms back between Overeem's legs - danger averted.
Overeem not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Ayers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Overeem will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ayers jumps guard but Overeem turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ayers tries to keep at a distance but Overeem has taken the fight into the clinch.
Overeem goes for a takedown attempt but Ayers pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Overeem looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ayers moves into the clinch.
Ayers is trying to push Overeem away but Overeem has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Overeem is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Ayers is keeping busy.

Overeem breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Overeem.
Ayers throws a big counter combination but Overeem scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Eugene Ayers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alistair Overeem.

Overeem gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ayers wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Overeem keeps control of Ayers as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Ayers wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ayers jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Overeem walks away with a smile on his face. Ayers gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Overeem shoots for a takedown but Ayers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ayers is looking to counter punch.
Eugene Ayers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ayers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Overeem but Overeem pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Overeem wants to counter the offense by Ayers and move into the clinch position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Overeem shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ayers defends it nicely.

Alistair Overeem showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ayers is fighting off a takedown attempt but Overeem is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ayers to the mat. Ayers regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Overeem with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Overeem trying to control but Ayers is working from the bottom.
Ayers pulls Overeem in close to prevent any damage.
Ayers thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Ayers looking for a guillotine here but Overeem defends easily.

Ayers wants to hit a switch here but Overeem passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ayers there!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eugene Ayers.
I think Overeem has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
