PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lewis Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Fistfull of Dollars kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ned Kelly!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kelly.

Kelly scores with a takedown into Scott's guard.
Kelly stops Scott from standing up.

Kelly is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Scott is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kelly is controlling him.
Kelly wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kelly is looking to work some ground and pound but Scott has wrist control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kelly drops back looking for a leg! Scott is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Scott manages to kick Kelly off! Kelly jumps back into Scott's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kelly shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Scott as he avoids it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kelly fails with the takedown.
Lewis Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ned Kelly.
Nice body punch from Scott.

Scott throws a lazy right hand but Kelly sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Kelly feints and as Scott raises his hands in defense, Kelly changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kelly drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kelly jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kelly with a flurry of punches that miss.

Scott is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Kelly is trying to trip Scott. He has hold of a leg but Scott is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kelly persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kelly won't allow Scott to get back to his feet.

Kelly thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Scott is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kelly is controlling him.

Kelly drops back looking for a leg! Scott is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Scott manages to kick Kelly off! Kelly jumps back into Scott's guard.
Kelly looks gassed!
Scott wants to stand and escape but Kelly is having none of it.
Scott trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Kelly loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kelly bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Kelly dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Scott stuffs the takedown attempt from Kelly. Kelly gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Kelly fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kelly keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Scott.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kelly shoots in but no luck this time.
Lewis Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ned Kelly.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kelly fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kelly tries to close the distance and clinch up but Scott swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kelly scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Kelly is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Scott doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kelly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kelly prevents Scott from standing back up.
Scott is in trouble now - Kelly has advanced to mount!
Scott is trying to stand up.

Kelly looking to secure an arm triangle but Scott defends it well.

Kelly jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Scott manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kelly is breathing heavily.

Kelly tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Scott is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Kelly is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Scott is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Scott is trying to buck Kelly off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kelly advances to full mount.
Kelly throwing strikes here but Scott is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Scott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kelly has a takedown stuffed.
Kelly uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Scott.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kelly manages to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kelly feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kelly thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Scott can't keep his opponent in guard - Kelly advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kelly takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kelly prevents Scott from standing back up.
Scott is refusing to be controlled, as Kelly sits in half guard.

Kelly is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kelly passes to side control.
Scott tries to escape but Kelly is in control.

Kelly tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Kelly wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Scott, who protects the arm well.

Kelly is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Scott knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kelly working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Scott pushes Kelly away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kelly gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Kelly decides to stand back up.
Scott misses with an uppercut.

Kelly fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Scott sprawls well initially but Kelly persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kelly is working for a kimura but Scott is defending it quite comfortably.
Ned Kelly has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kelly prevents Scott from standing back up.

Kelly looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Scott is trying to stand.
Ned Kelly is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kelly slips a nice elbow through Scott's hands, connecting with Scott's forehead.
Kelly stops Scott from getting back to his feet.
Lewis Scott has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kelly is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kelly controlling the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ned Kelly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kelly winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
