Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Cordes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Hope!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jorge Cordes!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cordes avoids the head kick by Hope.
Hope throws a head kick but Cordes moves out of range.
Hope scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Jorge Cordes has been cut.
Hope throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hope looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hope scores with a decent looking hook.
A head kick misses from Hope.

Hope closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Cordes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hope misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Cordes is trying to work for a sweep but Hope has mounted him!
Hope throws some wild stikes that Cordes manages to avoid easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cordes is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hope can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cordes is looking to escape.
Cordes tries to hold on but Hope pushes him away.
Cordes is trying to escape the mount.
Hope avoids the attempt from Cordes to control.
Cordes is squirming around, avoiding Hope's attempts to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cordes avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hope.
Cordes is desperately trying to improve his position but Hope has a good base and remains in mount.
Cordes sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hope is taking a breather. Cordes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Hope wants to pass to mount but Cordes is defending the position.
Hope is breathing heavily.

Cordes trying to hold on to Hope's head to control him but Hope postures up.
Cordes manages to get to full guard.
Cordes looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hope not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cordes trying to keep a closed guard but Hope is proving a slippery customer.

Cordes is looking for a triangle but Hope pushes his legs off easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cordes wants to sweep here but Hope controlling him for the moment.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cordes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hope's waist but Hope gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cordes off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hope throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hope misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cordes.
Cordes shoots and misses

and Hope counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cordes won't be happy with that.
Hope landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Cordes is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Hope trying to mount his opponent but Cordes defends it.
Cordes wants to improve his position but Hope is controlling well.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cordes gets full guard.
Hope tries to stand but Cordes is controlling from the bottom.

Hope stands up from Cordes's guard - Hope perhaps looking for a knockout.
Hope throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Cordes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hope misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cordes.
Hope is looking to control Cordes's arms but Cordes gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hope has his back to the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hope wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cordes drags the fight down to the ground.
Cordes looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cordes trying to control the position here.
Hope trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cordes's guard.
Cordes pulls Hope in to control the position.
Cordes is trying to control the position but Hope postures up.
Cordes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Cordes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Still in half guard, Cordes seems content to control.

Cordes is working for a kimura but Hope is defending it quite comfortably.

Cordes decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Hope has his takedown stuffed

so Cordes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hope looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cordes wants to pass the guard but Hope is keeping the position.

Hope wants to improve his position but instead Cordes has moved into half guard.
Cordes sitting and controlling from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorge Cordes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Cordes drives through and clinches with Hope against the cage.

Cordes jumps guard and drags Hope to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Cordes wants to stand up but Hope is controlling him.
Cordes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hope throws a strike but Cordes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hope is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cordes trying to control the position from guard on top but Hope is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cordes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hope is looking to stand up but Cordes isn't so interested in that idea.

Cordes gets to his feet - Hope follows without any prompting.

Cordes clinches with his opponent.
Cordes tries for a takedown but Hope manages to get underhooks.
Cordes gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hope.
Cordes working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Cordes lands a body shot.

Cordes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Hope pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cordes is keeping the position for now.
Hope looking to sit in guard and control but Cordes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cordes forces his way into half guard.

Cordes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hope does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cordes connects with a nice short shot to Hope's temple.

Cordes stands up out of the half guard.

Cordes gets a takedown into half guard.
Hope is in trouble now - Cordes has advanced to mount!

Cordes controlling the position easily from mount.
Hope is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jorge Cordes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cordes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
