Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darko Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eaton Beavers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Darko Cruz has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Darko Cruz seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz moves into the clinch successfully.
Beavers prevents the takedown attempt.

Cruz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Beavers stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Beavers is defended easily by Cruz.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cruz shoots in looking for a takedown but Beavers manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cruz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Cruz counters with a three punch combo that has Beavers backing up. Beavers nods at Cruz to acknowledge the strikes.
Cruz shoots in for a takedown but Beavers shows good takedown defense.

Cruz moves into range and clinches up with Beavers.
Beavers misses with a punch on the inside.
Beavers's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Beavers takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Cruz wants the takedown. Beavers is fighting it off but Cruz persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Beavers's guard against the cage.
Beavers wants to get back to his feet but Cruz passes into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Beavers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Beavers throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Cruz enables Beavers to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cruz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cruz is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Beavers presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've been informed that Beavers has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

We've been hearing good reports from Cruz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
