Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Conor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Bourque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGregor comes to the cage accompanied by The Foggy Dew / El Chapo. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conor McGregor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 56 - 33 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Bourque!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGregor steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bourque.
Bourque misses with a straight right.
Bourque displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McGregor.
McGregor throws a shot from downtown. Bourque moves away and avoids it.
Bourque lands a nice looking body shot.
Nice defenses there by Bourque.
A little jabbing left from Bourque on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
McGregor misses with a hook.
McGregor throws a hook to the side of Bourque's head but Bourque sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Bourque! But no joy.
Bourque lands a nice looking body shot.
McGregor misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bourque.
Bourque throws a body shot but no joy.
Bourque moves out of range of the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGregor fails with a takedown attempt.
We've been hearing reports that McGregor has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
McGregor takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The fighters circling - McGregor throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

McGregor takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
A looping hook to the body misses from McGregor. Bourque does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bourque on the wrong end of a nice jab.
McGregor is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Bourque's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Bourque ducks under a wild hook from McGregor.
Bourque staying out of range there.
Bourque is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McGregor throws a jab but it's blocked by Bourque.
Bourque lunges at McGregor with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by McGregor's hand.

McGregor closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGregor is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bourque keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Bourque is staying active underneath McGregor, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
McGregor prevents Bourque from improving his position.
McGregor sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bourque defending well though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
McGregor throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bourque fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bourque bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bourque is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Bourque lands a nice shot to the body.
McGregor lands a head shot.
Bourque lands a jab.
Bourque wants to clinch but McGregor slips to the side
and McGregor counters with a right hand to the body.
McGregor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bourque has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Bourque avoids a punch combination nicely.
McGregor just misses with a punch to the body.
McGregor rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McGregor takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bourque uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McGregor.
McGregor gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bourque moves out of range of the strikes.
Bourque misses with a wild body shot.
McGregor looks to score with a jab to the body but Bourque is just out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bourque fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McGregor looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
McGregor throws a body shot but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGregor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bourque was well out of range. Poor timing from McGregor.
A cross from Bourque lands.
McGregor bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bourque lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Horrible takedown attempt by McGregor or perhaps it was just good defense by Bourque, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Conor McGregor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGregor misses with a body shot.
McGregor misses with a lunging right hand
and Bourque counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bourque cracks McGregor with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Bourque misses with the combination.
Bourque lands a jab to the head.
Bourque walks into a left hand.
Bourque is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! McGregor had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

McGregor is rocked!
Bourque is pawing at McGregor, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into McGregor's nose. McGregor is badly hurt! Bourque pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! McGregor tries desperately to hold on but Bourque is relentless in his assault! As McGregor receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Bourque away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Bourque!
A very excited looking Paul Bourque made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Conor McGregor was interviewed post fight and said 'You win or you learn. I am humble in victory or defeat, and I will be back.'.
