Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Lowery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Sturmy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacob Sturmy has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dave Lowery's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Lowery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Sturmy!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sturmy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sturmy looking for a takedown.
Sturmy wants to break free but Lowery has control.
Lowery stops a takedown attempt from Sturmy.
Lowery taking a breather.

Sturmy manages to pull guard.
Sturmy is pulling down on Lowery's head. It's preventing any offense from Lowery, at least for the moment.

Sturmy throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sturmy trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Sturmy pulls Lowery in to control the position.

Sturmy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lowery has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lowery loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Lowery avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Lowery drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sturmy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sturmy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sturmy!

Sturmy tries to advance to mount but can't.

Sturmy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lowery, who protects the arm well.

Sturmy takes a little break here. Lowery wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lowery tries to buck Sturmy off but Sturmy is having none of it.
Sturmy working away.
Sturmy tries to advance to mount but Lowery denies him.
Sturmy slows the pace down.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sturmy with the ground and pound but Lowery regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Lowery wants to control but Sturmy is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sturmy misses with a series of wild punches.
Lowery slips a straight right by Sturmy.
Sturmy looks for a takedown but Lowery sprawls well.
Dave Lowery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Sturmy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sturmy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lowery circles away.
Sturmy closes the distance and clinches up with Lowery, looking for a takedown. Sturmy pushes Lowery against the cage but Lowery circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sturmy.
An attempted straight right counter from Lowery misses the target.
Sturmy fails with the takedown
and Lowery counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Sturmy looks winded!
Sturmy shoots in looking for a takedown. Lowery tries to sprawl out of it but Sturmy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lowery manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sturmy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lowery counters with a nice body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jacob Sturmy will probably get the nod.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lowery is defended easily by Sturmy.
Sturmy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sturmy tries a head kick but it misses.
Lowery avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lowery keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A quick step to the side and Lowery tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sturmy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lowery swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lowery defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sturmy.
Lowery appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Sturmy is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Lowery is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Lowery is trying to stall.
Lowery can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Lowery takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Dave Lowery.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sturmy or perhaps it was just good defense by Lowery, which made it look bad.

Sturmy moves to clinch but Lowery breaks away
and Sturmy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sturmy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lowery counters with an outside leg kick.
Sturmy is breathing heavily.
Lowery doesn't manage to clinch there - Sturmy circles away.
Sturmy is looking to land body kicks.
Sturmy tries to clinch up
and Lowery counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sturmy.

Lowery decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Sturmy desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Sturmy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lowery seems to be looking for submissions.

Lowery is looking for a kimura but Sturmy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lowery to get the leverage.
Sturmy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sturmy.
Sturmy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sturmy has control of Lowery's left arm, preventing Lowery from doing any damage.

Lowery is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sturmy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sturmy has escaped and now he's on top!

Lowery is trying to keep Sturmy in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dave Lowery will probably get the nod.

Sturmy goes for a double leg but Lowery avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lowery continues to drive forward.

Lowery throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sturmy was covering up waiting for the punch and Lowery finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lowery has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sturmy is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Lowery counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sturmy thinking.

Sturmy throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lowerys head.
Lowery changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sturmy fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Sturmy clinches.
Sturmy lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Lowery or not.
Sturmy goes for a takedown attempt but Lowery pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sturmy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lowery sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Sturmy has taken the fight to the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sturmy drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lowery pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sturmy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jacob Sturmy.
I think Sturmy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
