The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Popov misses with a low kick as Stahl jumps back.
Stahl throws a nice looking combination but Popov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Popov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stahl circles away quickly and effectively.
Stahl is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Stahl tries to sprawl but Popov drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Stahl kicks Popov off and gets back to his feet.

Popov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Popov lands in his opponent's guard.

Popov is standing up over Stahl. Stahl looks to escape but Popov dives into side control.
Stahl wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Popov stands up and beckons Stahl to his feet.
Stahl throws a right and a left that Popov avoids nicely.

Popov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stahl looks winded!

Popov decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Popov misses with a low kick.

Stahl throws a one two combo.

Popov instigates a clinch.

Stahl breaks the clinch.

Popov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Stahl's guard.

Stahl pushes Popov off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Popov misses with a few strikes there.
Magnus Stahl seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Popov pushes Stahl up against the cage in a clinch.
Popov's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Stahl escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Popov feints and as Stahl raises his hands in defense, Popov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Popov stands and steps away. Stahl gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Popov has closed the distance and engaged Stahl in a clinch.

Magnus Stahl is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Popov looks to land a combination but Stahl avoids it well.
Popov slips a jab and a cross from Stahl.
Stahl misses with a double jab.
Stahl throws a wild hook but Popov just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Stahl gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Popov raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
