Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evair Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Evair Santos!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Santos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Santos misses with a takedown
enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab.
Santos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Santos connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jones momentarily.
Jones takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Santos. Santos gets slowly back to his feet.
Evair Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Santos counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Santos has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Jones walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Santos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
Santos lands a glancing blow to the side of Jones's head.
A punch lands to the side of Jones 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Santos throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range.
Santos misses with a wild body shot.
Santos moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
It looked like Jones wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Santos lands a really nice looking cross but Jones seems unphased.

Santos waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Jones. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Jones to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Santos dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Jones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Santos drops Jones with a nice combination! Santos dives into Jones's guard, looking to finish!
Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Santos is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones seems to have got his legs back now.

Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Santos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Santos misses with a lunging right hand
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jones looks to land a left hand but Santos moved out of range nicely.
Santos throws out a loose jab but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jones misses with a straight left.
Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Santos stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Jones takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Evair Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Santos catches Jones with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Jones was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Jones throws a hook but Santos blocks it.

Santos cracks Jones with an uppercut from hell and Jones crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Santos's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Santos is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Santos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
