Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Derrick Cervantes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oscar Judd!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Judd fails with a takedown attempt.
Cervantes is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Judd.

Judd closes the distance and clinches.
Cervantes wants to break the clinch but can't.
Judd keeps control of Cervantes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Judd successfully pulls guard.
Cervantes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cervantes distracts Judd with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Judd had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cervantes defends it easily.
Judd controls Cervantes momentarily but Cervantes frees himself.

Judd trying to keep a closed guard but Cervantes is proving a slippery customer.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Judd throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Cervantes looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Judd!
Judd tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Cervantes has good solid back control here.
Cervantes seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Judd for as long as he can get away with.

Cervantes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Judd rolls, trying to escape but Cervantes keeps control of the position.
Cervantes gets his hands free as Judd looks to control.
Will Cervantes go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cervantes is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Judd defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Cervantes trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Cervantes is not going to allow Judd to sit and survive in this position.

Judd shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Judd showed some decent athleticism there.

Cervantes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cervantes wants to hit a switch here but Judd passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cervantes there!

Judd can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cervantes is looking to escape.

Cervantes is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Cervantes sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Cervantes is refusing to be controlled, as Judd sits in half guard.

Judd is looking for a kimura but Cervantes is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Judd to get the leverage.
Judd is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Judd is breathing heavily.

Judd prevents Cervantes from improving his position.

Cervantes kicks off Judd and gets to his feet.
Judd misses with a takedown

and Cervantes counters by moving into the clinch.
Cervantes can't break the clinch.
Cervantes stalling the fight.
Judd wants to take the fight to the mat but Cervantes manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Cervantes has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Judd uses from the top position.
Judd won't allow Cervantes to sweep him here.
Cervantes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Judd manages to get himself to full guard.

Judd is looking for a triangle but Cervantes pushes his legs off easily.

Cervantes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cervantes stands and steps away. Judd gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cervantes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Judd is trying to defend but Cervantes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Judd is looking to get back to is feet but Cervantes passes into side control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Derrick Cervantes will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Cervantes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Judd on his heels. He'll look to pass Judd's guard now, I'm sure.
Cervantes wants to stand but Judd is controlling his posture from full guard.

Judd escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cervantes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cervantes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Judd is proving hard to escape from.

Cervantes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Judd working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cervantes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cervantes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Judd has a closed guard, preventing Cervantes from standing up.
Judd is pulling down on Cervantes's head. It's preventing any offense from Cervantes, at least for the moment.
Cervantes is looking to stand up but Judd won't let him.

Cervantes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Judd tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cervantes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Cervantes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Judd.
Cervantes throws a big counter combination but Judd scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Judd slaps away a takedown attempt from Cervantes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Judd tries to clinch but Cervantes moves away
and Cervantes counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Judd lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cervantes misses with a few strikes there.

Cervantes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Cervantes has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
No luck for Cervantes with that takedown attempt.
Judd fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As Judd backs away, Cervantes returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cervantes drives through with a takedown into Judd's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Judd pushes Cervantes off and scrambles back to his feet.

Oscar Judd comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cervantes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
