Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Satoshi Tanahashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreus Puno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Tanahashi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Blood Stain Child - Stargazer. Puno is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Warlord. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Satoshi Tanahashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andreus Puno!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanahashi throws an off balance right hand
and Puno counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Puno goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Puno lands a body shot.
A jab from Tanahashi misses.
A slow jab from Puno misses its intended target.
Tanahashi drops down looking for a counter takedown but Puno sprawls and moves away.
Puno fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tanahashi manages to avoid it.
Tanahashi feinted with a counter takedown.
Tanahashi slips a straight right by Puno.
Tanahashi has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Tanahashi is looking to land body kicks.
Puno throws out a counter right but Tanahashi avoids it with no problem.
Nice defenses there by Tanahashi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puno throws a wild body kick that Tanahashi sees coming a mile off.

Tanahashi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Puno.

and Tanahashi counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Tanahashi is working for a kimura but Puno is defending it quite comfortably.

Tanahashi throws a strike but Puno rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Puno wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tanahashi keeps working.

Puno seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tanahashi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Puno tries to stand but Tanahashi is controlling from the bottom.
Tanahashi looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Puno puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Puno wants to control but Tanahashi is keeping him busy.
Puno moves nicely into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tanahashi tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andreus Puno dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Tanahashi jabs Puno to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Good exchange - Puno coming out on top.
Good work by Puno as he checks the leg kick.
Tanahashi scoring well with a low kick there.

Tanahashi digs a good body shot into Puno's ribs.

Puno looks to land a left hand but Tanahashi moved out of range nicely.
Puno throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tanahashi sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Tanahashi wants to control from the top but Puno keeps moving.
Tanahashi tries to free his leg and advance position but Puno is retaining full guard.

Tanahashi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Puno is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tanahashi, into his guard.

Andreus Puno has got the better of the ground game so far.
Puno wants to control from the top but Tanahashi keeps moving.

Puno got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tanahashi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Puno has managed to get both his arms back between Tanahashi's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Puno avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tanahashi trying to keep a closed guard but Puno is proving a slippery customer.

Tanahashi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Puno escapes and throws Tanahashi's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Tanahashi tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Puno presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Puno bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tanahashi's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Tanahashi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Puno can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Puno in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Puno lands with an overhand left.
Puno lands a nice shot to the body.
Puno explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Tanahashi fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Puno checks it well.
A looping hook to the body misses from Puno. Tanahashi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Puno throws a looping overhand right but Tanahashi ducks down to avoid it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Puno.
Puno looks to score with a jab to the body but Tanahashi is just out of range.
Puno has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Puno throws out a loose jab but Tanahashi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tanahashi appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Puno swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Puno takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Puno takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Tanahashi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Puno's guard.

Tanahashi is working for an americana but Puno has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Tanahashi was thinking about the submission.

Puno tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Tanahashi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Puno dives on top into guard.


Tanahashi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Puno is aware though and is defending well.
Tanahashi keeping moving, preventing Puno from controlling successfully.
Tanahashi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Puno is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Tanahashi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Puno is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tanahashi.

Andreus Puno comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Puno has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Andreus Puno decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
