Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Down Out!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Batista!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Out is controlling Batista's posture.
We've been hearing good reports from Out's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Batista stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Out swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Out is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Batista won't allow Out to sweep him here.

Out manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Batista manages to get himself to full guard.

Out scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Out looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Out looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Batista with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Out is thwarting Batista's attempts to control the position.
Out landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Out lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Batista is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Out pulls his head out easily.
Out perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Out looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Out winds up and cracks Batista with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ground and pound from Out.
Out slows the pace down in half guard.
Batista gets back to full guard.

Out with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Out's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Out makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Batista had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Out defends it easily.

Batista has momentary wrist control but Out slips an elbow through the middle.

Out is stalling in the full guard.

Batista has his foot on Out's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Out works his way back into a safe position though.

Out postures up and lands a big shot to Batista's brow.
Out distracts Batista with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Batista is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Out rolls with it to try and escape but Batista cranks on the arm and Out is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dave Batista!
After the fight, Dave Batista was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
