The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rose fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ataman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ataman avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
As Rose tries to get set, Ataman tries to push him back and clinch up but Rose manages to avoid the attempt.
Ataman walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ataman loads up on a big right hand but Rose slips the punch.
Ataman wants to clinch up but Rose keeps it at a distance.
Rose cracks Ataman with an open hand slap.
Ataman takes one to the chin there.
Rose throws a big shot that misses.
Rose lands a two punch combo.
Rose on the wrong end of a nice hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rose connects with a jab.
Ataman is rocked!
Rose fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Ataman square on the jaw! Damn, Ataman is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Derick Rose!
After winning the bout, Derick Rose thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
