Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jon Quillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willie Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Quillo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Quillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Willie Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson tries to clinch there but Quillo circles away.
Quillo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nelson dips to his left and cracks Quillo with an uppercut!
Quillo shoots in but no luck this time.
Quillo closes the distance and clinches up with Nelson, looking for a takedown. Quillo pushes Nelson against the cage but Nelson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Quillo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Quillo checks a low kick from Nelson.
Nelson tries to bum rush Quillo with a series of wild strikes but Quillo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nelson throws a nice looking combination but Quillo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Quillo darts in and clinches Nelson up against the cage.

Nelson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Quillo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nelson circles away.

Quillo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Nelson is not content to let Quillo control the position.
Quillo remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Quillo is really struggling to control Nelson but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nelson wants to clinch but Quillo slips to the side

and Quillo counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Quillo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Quillo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quillo is breathing heavily.
Nelson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nelson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Nelson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Quillo has worked his arm free - good work by Quillo!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Quillo is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nelson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Willie Nelson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nelson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Nelson sends Quillo crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Nelson is motioning to the referee to let Quillo up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


It looks like Jon Quillo has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nelson misses with the combination.
Quillo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Quillo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nelson circles away.

and Quillo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nelson's guard.
Nelson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Quillo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nelson's waist but Nelson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Quillo off to one side.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Nelson is looking to chop away at Quillo's legs.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Quillo stops Nelson from standing up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nelson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A right-left combo lands from Nelson.
Quillo takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Nelson tries a head kick but it misses.
Nelson throws a low kick, looking for Quillo's leg but Quillo calmly moves out of range.
Quillo shoots for a takedown but Nelson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Quillo shoots for a double leg takedown but Nelson sprawls well. He's pushed Quillo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Quillo misses with a takedown attempt - Nelson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Quillo looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Nelson moves into range and connects with a jab.
Nelson tries to clinch but Quillo is having none of it.

Nelson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
