Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shelton Weber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shelton Weber has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Burns!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns scores with a three punch combo!
Weber could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Burns closes the distance and clinches.

Burns looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Weber!

Burns decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Burns misses with a hook. Weber ducked under it nicely.
Weber swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Burns closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Weber did well to prevent Burns getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Burns seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Weber does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It looks like Shelton Weber has been cut.

Burns throws a nice looking combination but Weber bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Burns closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Weber is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Burns pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Burns has hold of one of Weber's legs. Weber is fighting the takedown attempt but Burns gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Burns is in close to Weber's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Burns tries to free his leg and advance position but Weber is retaining full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Weber is on top in guard.


Weber is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Burns is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Burns has escaped and now he's on top!

Burns not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Burns postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Weber is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Burns, into his guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burns can do anything to dispel that myth.

Burns throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Weber tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Burns is in Weber's guard.
Burns throws an elbow that misses. Weber uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Burns's guard. Nice move by Weber!

Weber working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Burns's head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Weber is refusing to be controlled, as Burns sits in half guard.

Burns wants to pass the guard but Weber is keeping the position.

Patrick Burns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Burns. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Weber looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Patrick Burns is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well Burns has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
