Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sunny Lafeye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guguinha Matador!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lafeye scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Matador looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Matador has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lafeye is working away from the top position though.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Lafeye is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Matador doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lafeye.
Lafeye wants to free his trapped foot but Matador is holding on for dear life with his legs.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Matador can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lafeye is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Matador is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Lafeye counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Matador controls Lafeye momentarily but Lafeye frees himself.
Lafeye sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Matador's guard.

Lafeye is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lafeye closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Matador gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Matador wants to control but Lafeye is having none of it.
Matador is desperately trying to improve his position but Lafeye has a good base and remains in mount.

Lafeye drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lafeye jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lafeye is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Matador has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Matador!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lafeye shoots for a double leg takedown but Matador sprawls well. He's pushed Lafeye's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
