PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Edkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Edkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Royce Vega!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edkins has closed the distance and engaged Vega in a clinch.

Edkins is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Vega can't fight it off and eventually Edkins manages to take the fight to the floor. Vega looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Edkins makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Edkins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Edkins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Edkins is working Vega over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Vega had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Edkins defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Edkins chips away with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Edkins loads up on a big left hand. Vega felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Edkins looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Vega can't hide his disappointment, as Edkins celebrates the victory.
