The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reulas shoots for a takedown but Winston saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And Winston tries to counter it with a takedown but Reulas pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Winston has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Reulas is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Reulas doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Winston counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Reulas looking for a guillotine here but Winston defends easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Winston throwing strikes from guard but Reulas blocks nicely.
Winston trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Winston postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Winston passes into half guard.

Winston seems to be looking for submissions.
Reulas wants to improve his position but Winston is controlling well.

Winston has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Reulas defend it? Winston steps over the head and cranks it - Reulas is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Winston!
