PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bipolor Opposite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvin Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Opposite comes to the cage accompanied by Disturbed - Conflict. Bipolor Opposite has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bipolor Opposite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Calvin Jones!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Opposite gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jones to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jones preventing the sweep.

Opposite is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Opposite definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Opposite tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Opposite's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones postures up in Opposite's guard and throws a big left but Opposite blocks it.
Opposite is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Opposite will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Opposite is retaining full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Opposite rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.

Opposite has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones regains guard immediately.
Opposite wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones wants to hit a switch here but Opposite passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jones there!

Opposite avoids the attempt from Jones to control.
Opposite wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Opposite content just to control the position here.
Jones regains half guard.
Jones works his way to full guard. Good work.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Opposite. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Opposite passes into half guard.

Opposite is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones tries to roll over but Opposite keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bipolor Opposite will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Opposite on that attempt.
Jones is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Jones's coach down at Mist Of Pandaria was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jones's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Opposite lands with a good body shot.
Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Opposite is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Opposite circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Opposite's waist but Opposite gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Opposite half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Bipolor Opposite has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Calvin Jones.
Jones connects with a right hand. Opposite shakes it off.
Opposite lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Opposite misses with a body kick.

Opposite tries to sprawl but Jones drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Jones wants to control from the top but Opposite keeps moving.

Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Opposite pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Opposite misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jones blocks a body shot from Opposite.
Opposite lands with a right to the head.
Opposite struggles to land a body shot inside as Jones controls his hands.
Opposite really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jones is trying to stall.
Jones is trying to drag Opposite to the mat but Opposite just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jones has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Opposite is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Jones's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Opposite works on Jones's body with a couple of short punches.
Opposite lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Opposite is leaning against Jones and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Jones jumps guard but Opposite turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Opposite is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?
Jones has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Opposite is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Opposite has hold of one of Jones's legs. Jones is fighting the takedown attempt but Opposite gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Opposite's head.
Opposite regains full guard. Nicely done.
Opposite manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

Opposite can't find room to land a body shot as Jones controls the action.
Opposite throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Opposite walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bipolor Opposite has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Calvin Jones.
A looping hook to the body misses from Opposite. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.

Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jones takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Opposite is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Opposite leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Opposite but Opposite pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Opposite, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
