TWGC 12 (145lbs, D3): London Qualifier - Round 1 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a featherweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Simon Adabisi and Sergio Diaz. Diaz comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Gasolina kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Simon Adabisi! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Sergio Diaz!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Diaz tries to clinch up but Adabisi circles away and keeps his distance.

Adabisi clinches with his opponent.

Adabisi jumps into guard, dragging Diaz to the mat.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Adabisi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adabisi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Adabisi is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Adabisi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Adabisi's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz looking to break Adabisi's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Adabisi remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Diaz will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Diaz seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Adabisi's chin but Adabisi turns very nicely into Diaz's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Adabisi.
