PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Petros Prokopos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sni Probong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Probong has chosen Bodhi Mandala as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Sni Probong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Petros Prokopos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sni Probong!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prokopos with a poor takedown
and Probong counters with a stiff right hand.
Prokopos shoots in but Probong avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Prokopos takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Petros Prokopos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Probong looks to score with a jab to the body but Prokopos is just out of range.
Prokopos takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Probong lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Probong tests Prokopos's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Prokopos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Probong as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Petros Prokopos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Probong chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Prokopos drives through with a takedown into Probong's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Probong wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Let's hope that Probong has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Prokopos wants to control from the top but Probong keeps moving.
Probong is pulling down on Prokopos's head to control his posture.
Prokopos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Probong swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Probong has his hands on Prokopos's head, controlling the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Prokopos tries to free his leg and advance position but Probong is retaining full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Prokopos misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Prokopos blocks the body kick.

letting Probong counter with a right hand.
Probong connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Prokopos's hands.

Oh Prokopos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Prokopos fails with a takedown attempt.
Probong lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Probong moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Probong lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Prokopos at a distance.
Probong walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Prokopos drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Probong swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Prokopos's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
