PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jody Carrillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Krokup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Krokup will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jody Carrillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Krokup!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krokup fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carrillo to the ground. Krokup is now in Carrillo's guard.
Krokup stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carrillo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carrillo controlling the position.
Krokup stopping the sweep attempt from Carrillo.
Krokup tries to stand but Carrillo is controlling from the bottom.
Krokup throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krokup tries to free his leg and advance position but Carrillo is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krokup trying to control but Carrillo is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Carrillo forces Krokup back against the cage and clinches.

Carrillo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Krokup smiles and moves away.

Krokup shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Krokup showed some decent athleticism there.
Krokup wants to take a breather but Carrillo is having none of it.
Carrillo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Krokup.
Krokup is looking to take a break and control but Carrillo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Carrillo keeping hold of Krokup's head, controlling as best he can.
Krokup not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Krokup is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Krokup is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Krokup tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Carrillo tries to sprawl but Krokup drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krokup throwing shots but Carrillo is blocking nicely.
Carrillo is staying active underneath Krokup, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Krokup might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Carrillo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Krokup tries to pass the half guard into mount. Carrillo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Carrillo is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Krokup is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carrillo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Krokup holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Carrillo as Krokup tries to tie him up.
Carrillo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Krokup just stands there and leans against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Krokup dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Krokup slaps away a takedown attempt from Carrillo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Krokup has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Carrillo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Krokup swings wildly with an uppercut but Carrillo uses good head movement to avoid it.

Krokup breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Carrillo gets caught flat footed, as Krokup shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carrillo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Krokup is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Carrillo is adopting a defensive guard.

Krokup looking to sit in guard and control but Carrillo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Krokup controls Carrillo momentarily but Carrillo frees himself.
Carrillo tries to stand but Krokup is controlling from the bottom.

Krokup has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carrillo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carrillo is looking to stand up but Krokup won't let him.
Krokup looking to control.

Carrillo gets to his feet. Krokup looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Krokup closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Carrillo's guard.
Krokup is breathing heavily.
Krokup would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Krokup drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Carrillo dives on top into guard.

Krokup looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Krokup is trying to control the position but Carrillo postures up.
Carrillo with a flurry of punches that miss.

Carrillo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Carrillo moves into range and clinches up with Krokup.

Krokup gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Krokup looking to sit in guard and control but Carrillo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Carrillo gets to his feet - Krokup follows without any prompting.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Carrillo content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Carrillo postures up and lands a big shot to Krokup's brow.
Carrillo is working Krokup over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Krokup controls Carrillo momentarily but Carrillo frees himself.
Carrillo throws a big elbow that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carrillo postures up in Krokup's guard and throws a big left but Krokup blocks it.

Carrillo stands up from guard. Let's bang!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jody Carrillo dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Carrillo rushes Krokup and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Krokup tries to circle away but Carrillo has him pinned against the cage.

Carrillo manages to pull guard.
Krokup trying to control but Carrillo is working from the bottom.

Krokup has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carrillo is proving hard to escape from.

Krokup stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Krokup closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Carrillo to the mat! Carrillo manages to get full guard.

Carrillo has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Krokup has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Krokup takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Krokup pulls guard successfully.
Daniel Krokup has got the better of the ground game so far.
Carrillo throwing strikes but missing.
Krokup thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Carrillo throwing strikes from guard but Krokup blocks nicely.

Carrillo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Carrillo wants to get up but he can't break Krokup's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Carrillo throws a strike but Krokup rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carrillo stands up from Krokup's guard - Carrillo perhaps looking for a knockout.
Carrillo pivots, looking for a leg kick but Krokup is out of range and Carrillo settles back down.

Carrillo pushes Krokup up against the cage in a clinch.

Carrillo drags the fight down to the ground.

Carrillo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Krokup wants to control from the top but Carrillo keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jody Carrillo showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Carrillo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
