PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akuma Kamealoha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Ellison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellison is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Test. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Akuma Kamealoha!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Karl Ellison!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ellison gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ellison takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ellison throwing shots but Kamealoha is blocking nicely.

Ellison stands up out of the half guard.
Ellison throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kamealoha.
Left hook, right uppercut from Ellison.
Kamealoha takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kamealoha stuffs the takedown attempt from Ellison. Ellison gets slowly back to his feet.
Kamealoha rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ellison counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Ellison looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ellison shoots in for a takedown but Kamealoha shows good takedown defense.
Ellison stalks Kamealoha and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kamealoha's face. Kamealoha staggers backwards, shaken.

Kamealoha misses with an uppercut
and Ellison counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kamealoha connects with a crisp jab.
Kamealoha takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A combination from Ellison does no damage.
Kamealoha missing with a left hand there. Ellison was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ellison looks to land a combination but Kamealoha avoids it well.
Ellison closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kamealoha circles away.
Kamealoha appears to be looking for a big counter.
Akuma Kamealoha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karl Ellison.
Kamealoha displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ellison.

Kamealoha lands a left and a right that send Ellison crashing to the mat, dazed. Kamealoha thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Karl Ellison has been cut.
Ellison looks winded!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A slow jab from Ellison misses its intended target.
Ellison fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kamealoha avoids it really well and circles away.
Nice defenses there by Ellison.
Kamealoha walks into a jab.
Ellison shoots and misses
and Kamealoha counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kamealoha misses with a two punch combination.
Kamealoha throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ellison misses with a body shot.
Kamealoha swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ellison shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kamealoha but Kamealoha pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kamealoha throws a body punch but Ellison moves out of range.
Ellison misses with a double jab
and Kamealoha counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Karl Ellison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ellison looks to land a combination but Kamealoha avoids it well.
Kamealoha was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kamealoha with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ellison to score with a decent uppercut.
Kamealoha looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Ellison feints a jab promting Kamealoha to slip. Ellison then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kamealoha slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Ellison fails to land the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ellison dives in and grabs Kamealoha's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kamealoha pushes down on Ellison's head and hops out.
Sloppy strikes from Kamealoha. Those never looked like landing.
As Kamealoha backs off Ellison throws a huge counter combo but Kamealoha manages to avoid it all.
Ellison lands with a nice combination. Kamealoha backs away looking to recover.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kamealoha throws out a powerful jab.
Ellison doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Kamealoha closes the distance and clinches.
Ellison has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kamealoha after a bit of a struggle.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Kamealoha.
Kamealoha dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Akuma Kamealoha will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Karl Ellison's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Kamealoha counters with a crisp one two that drops Ellison! Kamealoha thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Ellison to his feet! Ellison is in big trouble!

Kamealoha throws a body punch but Ellison moves out of range.
Ellison takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kamealoha throws a body shot but no joy.

Kamealoha feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ellison sprawling to the canvas! Ellison rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kamealoha finish him?!


Ellison is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kamealoha lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Ellison backwards.
Kamealoha throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ellisons head.
Kamealoha lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ellison goes for a takedown attempt but Kamealoha pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kamealoha paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Ellison misses with the combination.

and Kamealoha counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ellison thinking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akuma Kamealoha dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Karl Ellison's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kamealoha misses with a wild body shot.

Ellison closes the distance and clinches up with Kamealoha, looking for a takedown. Ellison pushes Kamealoha against the cage but Kamealoha circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Kamealoha counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Akuma Kamealoha is winning the standup battle so far.
Kamealoha will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kamealoha throws a nice looking combination but Ellison bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ellison seems to have recovered his senses.

Kamealoha cracks Ellison with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Ellison looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kamealoha finish him?
Ellison looks up at the clock. Bad move! Kamealoha lands a right hand from hell, dropping Ellison. Kamealoha pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Akuma Kamealoha!
