The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Van Rensburg shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wilder napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee asks Van Rensburg politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Van Rensburg prefers to stall for the moment though.
Wilder stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilder wants to control but Van Rensburg postures up.
Wilder tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Van Rensburg wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Wilder is not content to let Van Rensburg control the position.
Van Rensburg misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Van Rensburg closes the distance looking for a takedown. Wilder stuffs it but Van Rensburg still has hold of him. Van Rensburg picks Wilder up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Van Rensburg slams Wilder to the floor and that's really hurt Wilder - he doesn't know where he is! Van Rensburg throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
