PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Sathish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robbie Lawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, King Sathish!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sathish has closed the distance and engaged Lawler in a clinch.
Lawler tries to score a body lock takedown but Sathish shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lawler tries for a takedown. No joy.
Sathish avoids the elbow strike from Lawler, against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Lawler.
Lawler is stalling here.
Lawler lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Lawler tries to work over Sathish's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Sathish is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lawler to keep the fight standing.

Lawler ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lawler no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sathish got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lawler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sathish has managed to get both his arms back between Lawler's legs - danger averted.

Sathish wants to pass the guard but Lawler is keeping the position.

Lawler lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Lawler not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Lawler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Lawler stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Sathish clinches up with Lawler and pushes him back against the cage.

Lawler breaks from the clinch.

Sathish shoots in and bounces Lawler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Lawler is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Sathish presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Sathish jumps guard but Lawler stands there with Sathish around his waist. Sathish gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Lawler.

Sathish pulls guard.
Lawler passes into half guard.
Sathish wants to get back to full guard.
Sathish blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lawler.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Lawler seems content to control.

Lawler decides to stand and escape the position.

Sathish throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sathish fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Robbie Lawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of King Sathish.
Lawler has a takedown stuffed.
Sathish throws a head kick that misses
and Lawler counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sathish looks winded!
Lawler shoots in but no luck this time.
Sathish fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sathish shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lawler as he avoids it easily.
Sathish keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lawler closes the distance and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robbie Lawler dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lawler rushes Sathish and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Sathish - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sathish keeps control of Lawler as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lawler misses with a takedown attempt - Sathish sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Sathish breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lawler connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Sathish stuffs the takedown.
Lawler lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Sathish throws a head kick that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sathish.
Sathish is breathing heavily.

Lawler fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Sathish gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sathish just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromLawler.

Lawler drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sathish sprawls and moves away.

Robbie Lawler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That was a close second round but I would say that Robbie Lawler will probably get the nod.
That's time! Lawler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Lawler stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lawler wants it to stay on the feet.
Sathish tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lawler is trying to force a seperation but Sathish has the dominant position.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sathish's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Sathish stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lawler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lawler is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sathish slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lawler wants to sweep here but Sathish controlling him for the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lawler is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sathish sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sathish throws a jab when Lawler was well out of range.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sathish is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sathish tries to score a body lock takedown but Lawler shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Sathish gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lawler.
Lawler wants to get back to striking at distance but Sathish won't allow it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sathish manages to break the clinch.
King Sathish has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Robbie Lawler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lawler staying out of range there.

I would just about give that final round to King Sathish.
I think Lawler has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
