PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sean Heir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heir's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, DMX - X Gon' Give It To Ya. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Heir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jordan Evans!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heir closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Heir's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Heir keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Evans gets tackled into the cage by Heir. Heir maintains the clinch.
Evans trying to land knees to the body.

Heir lands a takedown into guard.
Heir controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Evans looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans wants to sweep here but Heir controlling him for the moment.

Evans is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Heir is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Evans trying to keep a closed guard but Heir is proving a slippery customer.
Evans is looking to stand back up but Heir counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Evans.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Evans is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Heir instigates a clinch.

Heir jumps guard and drags Evans to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Heir is pulling down on Evans's head to control his posture.

Evans passes Heir's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Heir is trying to maintain the position but Evans is very close to passing his half guard.
Evans is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Evans is trying to control the action in half guard but Heir is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Evans scoring with punches to the head and body.
Evans trying to control but Heir is working from the bottom.
Heir trying to keep a closed guard but Evans is proving a slippery customer.
Heir has a closed guard, preventing Evans from standing up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Heir working a defensive guard but Evans manages to pass into side control anyway.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Evans keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Evans throws a wild body kick that Heir sees coming a mile off.

Heir closes the distance and pushes Evans back into the cage.
Heir gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Evans.
Evans is looking for a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Evans breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've been informed that Evans has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Heir has managed to clinch.

Heir manages to break the clinch.

Heir wants to clinch.
Heir is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Evans can do to turn this around?
Heir goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Evans looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Heir is fending him off so far but Evans persists. Nope, Heir circles away and we're back to standing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Heir keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Sean Heir overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Evans is trying to control the action in half guard but Heir is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Heir really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Evans is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Evans is looking to take a break and control but Heir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Heir is staying active underneath Evans, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Heir shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Evans is trying to keep Heir in close.
Heir's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Evans controls Heir momentarily but Heir frees himself.
Heir is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Evans is controlling Heir's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Heir content to control rather than advance.
Heir has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Evans tries a head kick but it misses.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Heir content to control rather than advance.
Evans tries to roll over but Heir keeps him under control.

Evans is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Heir pulls his head out easily.
Evans wants to get back to his feet.
Heir lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Heir is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Evans manages to get to full guard.
Heir tries to free his leg and advance position but Evans is retaining full guard.

Evans is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Heir defends well.
Jordan Evans has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sean Heir is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Evans wants to sweep here but Heir controlling him for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sean Heir showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Heir has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
