PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Josh Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Celestino Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turner comes to the cage accompanied by Next Episode by Dr. Dre. Celestino Martinez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Celestino Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Turner feinted with a counter takedown.

Turner pushes Martinez up against the cage in a clinch.

Martinez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Turner uses from the top position.

Turner drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Turner jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Martinez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Turner is looking to take a break and control but Martinez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Martinez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Turner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Turner wants to work for an arm triangle but Martinez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Turner has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Martinez is defending well but eventually Turner manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Martinez has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

After winning the bout, Josh Turner thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
