PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ged Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ming Dienasty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dienasty has chosen Kung Fu Fighting as his entrance music. Ming Dienasty is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ged Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ming Dienasty!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quinn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Quinn shoots in looking for a takedown but Dienasty manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Quinn's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Dienasty feints the counter takedown.
Dienasty throws the left hand but Quinn avoids the punch easily.
Quinn appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Dienasty throws a lazy uppercut
and Quinn counters with a one-two to the body.
Dienasty fails to land with a series of punches.
Dienasty has a takedown stuffed.
Quinn staying out of range there.
Quinn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Quinn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dienasty as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ged Quinn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dienasty looks to score with a jab to the body but Quinn is just out of range.

Dienasty rushes Quinn and presses him up against the cage.

Quinn goes for a takedown attempt but Dienasty pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Quinn tries to score a body lock takedown but Dienasty shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Quinn changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dienasty fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Dienasty scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Quinn is trying to get back to his feet.
Dienasty takes a little break here. Quinn wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Dienasty is trying to get an arm triangle but Quinn is defending well.

Dienasty prevents Quinn from escaping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quinn is trying to get back to his feet.
Dienasty landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Dienasty wants to lay and pray for a moment but Quinn keeps working.
Quinn is pushing Dienasty's head away, looking to escape. Dienasty manages to hold on to the position though.

Dienasty happy to just control the position for now.
Quinn is not content to let Dienasty control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dienasty pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dienasty's jab looks to have found its range, popping Quinn under the eye.
Quinn tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dienasty defends well and Quinn ends up having to push Dienasty into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Dienasty connects with a crisp jab.
Quinn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dienasty goes for a double leg but Quinn avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Quinn continues to drive forward.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dienasty will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dienasty throws a shot from downtown. Quinn moves away and avoids it.
Quinn tries to clinch up but Dienasty circles away and keeps his distance.
Quinn wants to clinch up but Dienasty keeps it at a distance.
Dienasty throws a shot to the body.

Dienasty drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Quinn is wriggling around but Dienasty manages to pass to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dienasty working over Quinn with some ground and pound. Quinn looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Quinn pushes Dienasty off looking to stand but Dienasty dives back in and keeps control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ming Dienasty dominated that round.

Quinn uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dienasty.
Ming Dienasty seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Quinn gets tackled into the cage by Dienasty. Dienasty maintains the clinch.
Dienasty wants a takedown but no success here.
Quinn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dienasty smiles and moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dienasty is defended easily by Quinn.

Quinn rushes Dienasty and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dienasty is pressed up against the cage. Quinn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dienasty down to the mat. Dienasty avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Quinn forces Dienasty back against the cage and clinches.
Dienasty is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Quinn is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Come on Quinn - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dienasty takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Quinn is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dienasty pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Dienasty misses the shot to the body.
Quinn changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Dienasty has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nice takedown defense from Dienasty. No joy for Quinn on that attempt.

Dienasty drives through and clinches with Quinn against the cage.
Quinn drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Quinn tries to throw a body punch but Dienasty avoids it by throwing Quinn back against the cage.
Quinn stalling in the clinch but Dienasty improves position.
Quinn can't get the takedown.
Quinn blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Quinn tries to pull guard but Dienasty won't allow it.

Quinn will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dienasty up against the cage.

Quinn shoots in but Dienasty avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Quinn tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dienasty just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ming Dienasty showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Dienasty closes the distance and pushes Quinn back into the cage.
Dienasty landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Quinn changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dienasty fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Dienasty gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Quinn takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Dienasty throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dienasty tries to clinch but Quinn moves out of range.

Dienasty throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Quinn closes the distance and clinches up with Dienasty, looking for a takedown. Quinn pushes Dienasty against the cage but Dienasty circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dienasty unleashes a big counter combination but Quinn bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Dienasty tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Quinn avoids it.

Quinn is looking for a takedown.
Quinn gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dienasty.
Quinn wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dienasty has him pressed against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Dienasty - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Quinn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dienasty tries to close the distance and clinch up but Quinn swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Quinn's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Dienasty connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Quinn scrambles back to his feet.

Dienasty looking to score a takedown here. Quinn is defending well but Dienasty drives through and ends up in Quinn's guard.
Dienasty is pushing down on Quinn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Quinn is fighting to maintain full guard but Dienasty has managed to sneak the leg through.

Dienasty wants to lay and pray for a moment but Quinn keeps working.

Quinn has one foot on Dienasty's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Quinn blocks the body kick.
Dienasty scores with a three punch combo!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dienasty keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dienasty throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Quinn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ged Quinn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ming Dienasty is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Dienasty thuds a left hand into Quinn's body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ming Dienasty comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dienasty has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
