The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sexton sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Hayes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sexton napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Hayes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sexton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sexton is looking for a sweep.
Sexton wants to control but Hayes postures up.

Hayes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sexton manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hayes's best efforts.

We've been hearing good reports from Hayes's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sexton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hayes defends well.
