PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Olliver Gullion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warren Peace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peace has chosen AC/DC Thunder Struck as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Olliver Gullion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Warren Peace!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gullion fakes the leg kick and cracks Peace in the body.
A head kick by Peace misses
and Gullion counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Gullion ducks under a wild hook from Peace.
Gullion delivers a nice body kick.
Peace blocks a head kick by Gullion.
Gullion tries a head kick but it misses.
Gullion throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gullion throws a sloppy head kick and Peace moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peace tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Gullion is able to avoid easily.

Peace bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Peace is trying to get an arm triangle but Gullion is defending well.

Peace tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peace has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gullion dodges the ground and pound from Peace.
Gullion is not content to let Peace control the position.
Gullion is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Peace is controlling him well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gullion is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Peace has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Peace has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gullion trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peace throws a strike aimed at the side of Gullion's head but Gullion avoids it well.
Peace fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Peace misses with the ground and pound.

Gullion is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Peace postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Peace is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Peace thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gullion wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Check out the look on Peace's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Peace is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Gullion is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Peace fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gullion manages to avoid it.

And Peace tries to counter it with a takedown but Gullion pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Gullion throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Peace stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Gullion is pushing Peace's head away, looking to escape. Peace manages to hold on to the position though.
Peace throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Gullion works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Olliver Gullion will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Gullion throws a hook to the side of Peace's head but Peace sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gullion throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Peace's head.
Nice uppercut lands for Gullion. That snapped Peace's head back.
Gullion dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Peace shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gullion sprawls well. Gullion wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Peace gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Olliver Gullion.

A less than humble Olliver Gullion misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
Warren Peace spoke after the fight, saying 'I was not prepared for this fight. I will be prepared next time.'.
