PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Todd Ochoa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simoni Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan has chosen The Champ is here as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Todd Ochoa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simoni Khan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ochoa shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Khan trying to get back to full guard but Ochoa takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Khan is wriggling around trying to escape.

Ochoa prevents Khan from getting the reversal.
Khan slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Ochoa blocks the strikes from Khan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ochoa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Khan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ochoa is working away from the top position though.

Khan is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ochoa jumps into side control!
You can see the frustration on Khan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ochoa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Khan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Ochoa is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Ochoa gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Ochoa gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Ochoa apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Ochoa feints and as Khan raises his hands in defense, Ochoa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ochoa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Khan defends it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Khan is defended easily by Ochoa.

Simoni Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan misses with a few strikes there.
Khan just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromOchoa.
Khan uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

and Ochoa counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ochoa or perhaps it was just good defense by Khan, which made it look bad.
Khan fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ochoa looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Khan throws a hook to the side of Ochoa's head but Ochoa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Khan is breathing heavily.
Ochoa tries to close the distance and clinch but Khan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ochoa moves in looking to clinch but Khan pushes him off.

Ochoa slips a jab from Khan.

Khan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ochoa looks for a takedown but Khan sprawls well.
Ochoa gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Khan.


It looks like Todd Ochoa has been cut.
Ochoa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khan can do to turn this around?
Khan lands a body shot.
Khan throws a lazy right hand but Ochoa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ochoa avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ochoa half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Ochoa shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense.
Khan looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Ochoa dives in for a single leg takedown but Khan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Khan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Khan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

The fighters are battling for position here. Khan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Khan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ochoa stacks Khan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ochoa!

Simoni Khan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Ochoa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Ochoa shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ochoa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ochoa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
