PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quincy Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luca Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Quincy Morrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luca Silva!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrison throws a sloppy head kick
and Silva counters with a two punch combo.

Morrison instigates a clinch.
Silva wants to stall.
Silva tries to break free but Morrison pushes him back against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Morrison pulls Silva into guard.
Morrison wants to sweep but no luck.
Morrison is pulling down on Silva's head. It's preventing any offense from Silva, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morrison is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Morrison is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Morrison not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Morrison throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Morrison looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva wants to sweep but Morrison has passed to side control!

Morrison thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Silva takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Morrison has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Check out the look on Morrison's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Silva tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Morrison really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Morrison is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Silva has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Silva wants to control his opponent's hands but Morrison gets his hands free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Morrison cracks Silva with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Silva from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Silva is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Morrison gets his way!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Morrison tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silva swivels and escapes.
Silva appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
A head kick misses from Silva.
It looked like Morrison was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Nice defenses there by Silva.
Silva pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.
An attempted straight right counter from Morrison misses the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva is looking to slow Morrison down with leg kicks.
Morrison goes for a double leg but Silva avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Silva continues to drive forward.
Silva looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

No luck for Morrison with that takedown attempt.
Despite the aggression on Silva's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quincy Morrison. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Morrison closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.
As Morrison backs off Silva throws a huge counter combo but Morrison manages to avoid it all.
Morrison is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Luca Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Morrison shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Silva feints a counter leg kick.
Silva goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Morrison fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Silva avoids it really well and circles away.
Silva shapes to counter with a head kick.
Morrison fails in his attempt to clinch.
Silva throws a counter combo.
Silva lands a nice leg kick that just misses Morrison's sensitive parts.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Morrison shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Morrison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Silva feints a counter leg kick.
Silva ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Morrison moves away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morrison gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luca Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Silva gets caught flat footed, as Morrison shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Silva is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Morrison dives into side control.

Morrison throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Morrison tries for a kimura but Silva is defending well.
Silva can't do much from the bottom here.

Morrison is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ground and pound from Morrison seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Silva looking for a sweep but Morrison has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Silva is trying to reverse the position but instead Morrison has taken his back - oops!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva looking very determined here, making life difficult for Morrison.
Silva covers up after that shot from Morrison.
Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Silva tries to roll but Morrison sticks to his back.
Morrison connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Silva to escape the position.
Morrison lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Morrison.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Morrison is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Silva with him. Silva is trying to defend but Morrison has an arm under the chin now! Silva grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Quincy Morrison!
