Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stacey Holman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Lax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stacey Holman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Lax!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lax darts in and clinches Holman up against the cage.
Lax wants a takedown but no success here.
Lax can't break the clinch.
Holman is trying to pull guard but Lax turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Lax is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Lax breaks the clinch.

Holman closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lax's guard.
Lax looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Holman showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Holman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lax for as long as he can get away with.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Holman drives through with a takedown into Lax's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Holman stays in close to Lax's body and controls the position.
Holman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Holman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Holman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lax swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Holman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Holman content to stall in guard here.

Holman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Holman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lax is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holman's corner is telling him to maintain position.

and Holman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Holman.

Lax drops back, looking for a kneebar! Holman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Holman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Holman!


Holman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Holman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lax knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Holman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lax rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Holman's guard! Nice work there by Lax!

Holman has his foot on Lax's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lax works his way back into a safe position though.

Holman pulls Lax in close to prevent any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lax tries to move into full mount but can't pass Holman's legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lax shoots in for a double leg but Holman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lax misses with a series of wild punches.
Josh Lax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lax moves in looking to clinch but Holman pushes him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Stacey Holman will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Holman is on top in guard.

Lax is working an open guard so Holman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Holman is working Lax over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Well Holman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
