Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesse McGulloch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daron Buxton!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGulloch swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Buxton.
McGulloch throws a head kick that misses
and Buxton counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Buxton tries for a takedown but McGulloch sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Buxton feints and as McGulloch raises his hands in defense, Buxton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Buxton trying to control the position from guard on top but McGulloch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Buxton is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGulloch has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Buxton might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Buxton won't allow McGulloch to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McGulloch fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
McGulloch throws a body kick, spinning off balance

so Buxton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Buxton is stalling in the full guard.
Buxton trying to control the position from guard on top but McGulloch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Buxton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McGulloch wants to sweep here but Buxton controlling him for the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
McGulloch throws a head kick but Buxton moves out of range.

McGulloch throws a left and a right that both miss
and Buxton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Buxton checks a low kick from McGulloch.
McGulloch throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
McGulloch throws a head kick that misses
enabling Buxton to counter with a crisp jab.
Jesse McGulloch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGulloch displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Buxton.
A head kick misses from McGulloch.
And Buxton tries to counter it with a takedown but McGulloch pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Buxton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jesse McGulloch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daron Buxton.
Buxton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McGulloch.

McGulloch drops Buxton with a beautiful combination! Buxton stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - McGulloch is looking for the KO!


It looks like Daron Buxton has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Buxton avoids the head kick by McGulloch.
McGulloch lands a jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from McGulloch. No joy for Buxton on that attempt.
Buxton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McGulloch throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Buxton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Buxton shoots in but McGulloch avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Some wild striking there from McGulloch.
Buxton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The fighters circle momentarily. McGulloch darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

and McGulloch counters with a nice right hand that sends Buxton toppling to the canvas! Buxton scrambles and gets back to his feet - can McGulloch finish him?!

Buxton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McGulloch to the mat! McGulloch manages to get full guard.
Buxton looking to sit in guard and control but McGulloch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse McGulloch dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Daron Buxton's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McGulloch misses with an uppercut.
Buxton feints the counter takedown.
McGulloch clobbers Buxton with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Daron Buxton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

McGulloch cracks Buxton with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. McGulloch has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Buxton to stand back up!


Buxton is rocked!
Buxton dodges the punch combination from McGulloch.
Buxton is still on wobbly legs! Can McGulloch finish him?
McGulloch pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Buxton seems to have recovered his senses.
McGulloch is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Buxton.
Buxton dives in and grabs McGulloch's left leg, looking for a takedown. McGulloch pushes down on Buxton's head and hops out.
It appears McGulloch was looking to counter with a kick there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGulloch cracks Buxton with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Buxton falls to his knees and McGulloch doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jesse McGulloch!
During a confident post fight interview, Jesse McGulloch thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
In defeat, Daron Buxton stepped up to the mic, saying 'I didn't lose today, my mentality did....'.
