PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donny Tanker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Donny Tanker!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Morris avoids the head kick by Tanker.

Tanker closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tanker lands in his opponent's guard.

Morris has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Tanker off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Morris moves into the clinch.

Tanker turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Morris sneaks out the side door and pushes Tanker away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Morris misses with a head kick.

Morris forces Tanker back against the cage and clinches.
Tanker wants to stall.
Tanker tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Morris's elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morris drops down looking for an ankle pick but Tanker pulls his leg out and moves away.

Morris takes the fight into the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Tanker.
Morris tries to score a body lock takedown but Tanker shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Morris has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tanker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Morris. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Morris has Tanker pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Morris pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Tanker tumbling to the mat - Morris dives into Tanker's guard.

Morris decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Morris gets caught napping as Tanker dives in and scores a takedown. Morris manages to retain guard.
Morris keeping moving, preventing Tanker from controlling successfully.
Morris bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tanker's guard.


Morris decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tanker, up you get!

Tanker fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Morris to the ground. Tanker is now in Morris's guard.

Morris is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Tanker looks winded!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morris is looking to take this one to the mat.
Morris has Tanker pressed against the cage, preventing Tanker from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tanker is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Morris gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Tanker is wriggling around but Morris manages to pass to half guard.
Morris takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Morris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Tanker is looking to get back to full guard here but Morris has managed to pass to side control instead.
Morris controlling the position.
Tanker is working to avoid the ground and pound but Morris connects with a decent elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tanker on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Morris cracks Tanker with a big right hand but Tanker just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Morris decides to stand up, so the ref orders Tanker to his feet.
Donny Tanker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tanker rushes Morris and presses him up against the cage.
Tanker is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Tanker gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Morris.
Morris is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacob Morris dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Tanker feints and then cracks Morris's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Morris down.

Tanker feints and as Morris raises his hands in defense, Tanker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Morris has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Tanker is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Morris is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tanker can do to turn this around?
Morris is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Tanker has picked Morris up - he's going for a ride! Tanker dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Morris kicks off Tanker and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tanker shoots in and gets a takedown into Morris's guard.

Morris is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Tanker presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Morris wants a takedown.

Morris gets control of Tanker's arms and successfully pulls guard. Morris will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Morris wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tanker is posturing up here but Morris has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Tanker tries to roll out but it's too tight and Tanker has to tap! Slick submission there by Morris!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jacob Morris!
