Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tanaka Sushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Sommervile (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as James Sommervile enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tanaka Sushi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Sommervile!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sushi closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Sushi looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Sommervile gets a clinch.
Sommervile lands a good knee to the midsection. Sushi won't want to take too many of those.

Sommervile pulls guard effortlessly.

Sommervile is looking for a triangle but Sushi pushes his legs off easily.

Sommervile has his feet on Sushi's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Sommervile throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Sushi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Sushi doesn't manage to clinch there - Sommervile circles away.
Sushi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Sommervile moves into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sommervile turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sommervile manages to end up in side control.

Sushi throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Sommervile feints and as Sushi raises his hands in defense, Sommervile changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sommervile lands a couple of digs.
Sommervile wants to pass the guard but Sushi is keeping the position.
Sommervile looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Sommervile trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sommervile controlling from the top position.
Sommervile stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sushi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sommervile is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sommervile dives in and scores a takedown into Sushi's guard.
Sushi wants to get back to his feet but Sommervile passes into half guard.

Sommervile lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Sommervile scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Sushi wants to stand back up but Sommervile manages to pass into side control.
Sommervile takes a little break here. Sushi wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Let's hope that Sommervile has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Sommervile postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Sommervile has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Sommervile controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Sommervile dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Sommervile moves into the clinch successfully.
Sommervile with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Sommervile misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sushi.
Sommervile just leaning against Sushi, taking a breather.

Sommervile breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sommervile has managed to clinch.

Sommervile pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sushi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sommervile keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sommervile is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sushi is working an open guard so Sommervile takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Sommervile has closed the distance and engaged Sushi in a clinch.

Sommervile escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sommervile lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Sommervile bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sommervile scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Sushi to see if he's OK.
Sushi is trying to escape the position but Sommervile is controlling the position.

Sommervile scores with a couple of short elbows.
Sushi tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Sommervile easily slips into full mount!
Sommervile connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Sommervile controlling his opponent.
Sushi swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sushi is trying to escape the mount.

Sommervile working for a guillotine from mount but Sushi is in no mood to give up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sommervile has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Sommervile.
Sushi has given up his back.

Sommervile has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Sushi! Can he survive? No! He's out! Sommervile gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
