The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Putin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Thompson is working away from the top position though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thompson connects with a nice short shot to Putin's temple.

Thompson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Putin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Putin seems a little lost for a moment, as Thompson dominates the positioning.
Thompson lands a big left to the face of Putin, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Thompson and another - Putin is out! Thompson stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.

Trey Thompson gave a mention to Popeye Nutritional Supplement in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
