PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Its Ono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Wuzz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that David Wuzz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Its Ono!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, David Wuzz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wuzz misses with a takedown attempt
and Ono counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Wuzz dives in for a single leg takedown but Ono sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Wuzz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ono tries to avoid it but Wuzz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ono to the ground. Ono escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Its Ono has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wuzz.
Ono throws a head kick but Wuzz moves out of range.
Wuzz avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Wuzz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ono as he avoids it easily.
Ono throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Wuzz counters with a nice uppercut.
Ono misses with an attempted mid kick.
Wuzz has his takedown stuffed
and Ono counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ono lands with a right hand.
Wuzz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Wuzz doesn't manage to clinch there - Ono circles away.
Wuzz takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ono misses with a body shot.
Wuzz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ono avoids it really well and circles away.

Ono scores with the left hand. Wuzz knows he should have avoided that one.
Wuzz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Ono paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ono has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Skating Rink in the buildup to the fight.
Ono looks for the body kick but Wuzz saw that one coming.
Wuzz drops his hands momentarily and Ono takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ono leaves Wuzz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It looked like Ono wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Ono misses with a body kick.
Ono looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Wuzz misses with a body shot.
Wuzz shoots in for a takedown but Ono shows good takedown defense.
Ono appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Ono just misses with a punch to the body.
Wuzz feints a counter leg kick.
Wuzz shoots in for a takedown but Ono shows good takedown defense.
Ono was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Good standup being displayed there by Ono as he connects with a hook.
Ono moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Ono circles away from the clinch attempt.

Ono getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ono throws a head kick but Wuzz moves out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ono.
Wuzz has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Wuzz tries to clinch but Ono is having none of it.
Ono stuns Wuzz with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ono misses with a jab to the body

and Wuzz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ono is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wuzz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wuzz.

Wuzz is looking for a triangle here but Ono uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Wuzz manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ono's best efforts.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wuzz wants to improve his position but Ono is controlling well.
Wuzz is pressing down on Ono's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Wuzz looking for subs off his back but Ono has passed one foot through into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ono lands a nice short elbow.
Wuzz wants to improve his position but Ono is controlling well.
Ono is keen to just control but Wuzz is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wuzz is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ono content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Ono landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Wuzz actively working from the bottom here.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Ono lands strikes from half guard.
Wuzz is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Its Ono dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Ono throws an overhand right that lands on Wuzz's shoulder, as Wuzz tries to avoid the shot.
Wuzz closes the distance and clinches up with Ono, looking for a takedown. Wuzz pushes Ono against the ropes but Ono circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ono is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wuzz can do to turn this around?
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wuzz.
An attempted straight right counter from Ono misses the target.
Ono pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ono jabs Wuzz right on the nose. Wuzz blinks but takes it well.

Wuzz moves into the clinch.
Ono misses with a body punch.
Wuzz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ono fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Its Ono has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wuzz.
Ono attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wuzz dives in and grabs Ono's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ono pushes down on Wuzz's head and hops out.
Wuzz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ono.

Wuzz tries for a takedown but Ono sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ono throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ono throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Ono feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Wuzz sprawling to the canvas! Wuzz rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Ono finish him?!


Wuzz is rocked!
Ono ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Wuzz out cold! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Its Ono!
After the fight, Its Ono was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
