PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Arlie Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Crespo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arlie Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Crespo!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Crespo.
Sampson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Crespo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Crespo throws a nice looking combination but Sampson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sampson is looking to clinch but Crespo is avoiding it.

Sampson closes the distance and pushes Crespo back into the cage.

Crespo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sampson moves out of range of the strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Crespo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sampson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Crespo.
Crespo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crespo feints a jab promting Sampson to slip. Crespo then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sampson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Sampson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Crespo rushes Sampson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Crespo jumps guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Crespo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crespo keeping moving, preventing Sampson from controlling successfully.

Sampson gets to his feet. Crespo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crespo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sampson is adopting a defensive guard.

Crespo wants to pass the guard but Sampson is keeping the position.

Crespo gets to his feet. Sampson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Crespo wants to clinch but Sampson slips to the side
and Sampson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Sampson tries to keep at a distance but Crespo has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sampson pulls Crespo into guard.
Crespo throws a big elbow that misses.
Crespo chips away with some ground and pound.
Sampson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Crespo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sampson dives on top into guard.


Sampson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
A telegraphed right hand from Crespo misses the target.
Sampson on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Crespo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Crespo looks winded!
Crespo wants to control from the top but Sampson keeps moving.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Crespo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Sampson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Crespo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sampson keeping moving, preventing Crespo from controlling successfully.

Crespo prevents Sampson from getting back to his feet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Crespo trying to control but Sampson is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sampson or perhaps it was just good defense by Crespo, which made it look bad.
Crespo lands with a nice combination. Sampson backs away looking to recover.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christian Crespo dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sampson shoots in but no luck this time.
Christian Crespo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Crespo takes the fight into the clinch.

Crespo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sampson is trying to control Crespo's posture but Crespo avoids it.
Crespo is working Sampson over with some ground and pound from side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oh Sampson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Crespo cracks Sampson with a big right hand but Sampson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Crespo in side control lands a decent elbow.
A big shot lands for Crespo! That's hurt Sampson! Will he recover? Crespo fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Christian Crespo!
A victorious Christian Crespo thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
