PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kip Saunders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Tamad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tamad is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Joker. Juan Tamad is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kip Saunders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 29 - 1, fighting out of London, Juan Tamad!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tamad throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Saunders lands with a thumping leg kick.
A low kick from Saunders is predictable there
and Tamad counters with a two punch combo.
Tamad has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Tamad scores with a punch to the head.
Saunders shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Tamad on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Saunders. Saunders obviously looking to wear him down.
Tamad lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Tamad connects with a looping right hand.


It looks like Kip Saunders has been cut.
Tamad cracks a nice hook into Saunders's ribs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Saunders throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

so Tamad counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Tamad is standing up over Saunders. Saunders looks to escape but Tamad dives into side control.

Saunders on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Saunders tries to get out of the position.
Tamad happy to just control the position for now.
Tamad advances nicely into full mount.

Saunders is looking to get to half guard.
Tamad tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Tamad has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Saunders tries to lock up and control but Tamad gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tamad tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saunders really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Tamad controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tamad is continuing to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Tamad dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kip Saunders's cut.

Saunders feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Tamad's calf.
We've been told by Saunders's head coaches at Team Meanor MMA™ that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Saunders misses with a low kick.
Saunders thows a leg kick but Tamad checks it
enabling Tamad to counter with a crisp jab.
Tamad checks the leg kick nicely there.
Tamad scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Juan Tamad seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Tamad misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Saunders throws a leg kick that is checked

Saunders lands with a slapping head kick.
Tamad has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tamad thuds his right hand into Saunders's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Saunders throws a wild hook but Tamad just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Saunders gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Tamad raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Tamad!
A relieved looking Juan Tamad thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
