Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex Grasso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Dickinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dickinson has chosen Aint No Sunshine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Alex Grasso has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Dickinson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dickinson misses the jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dickinson.
Dickinson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
We've been told by Grasso's head coaches at El Tico 's Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Grasso avoids the head kick by Dickinson.
Dickinson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Grasso misses with an uppercut.
Grasso misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dickinson.
Dickinson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grasso paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dickinson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dickinson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dickinson fails to land the takedown.
Grasso avoids a kick to the body.

Grasso moves out of range of the strikes.
Grasso appears to be looking for a big counter.
Dickinson walks into a straight right hand from Grasso.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dickinson.
Alex Grasso has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Dickinson.
Dickinson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Grasso.

Dickinson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Grasso's hands.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Dickinson closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Grasso swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And Dickinson tries to counter it with a takedown but Grasso pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Dickinson throws a combination that misses
and Grasso counters with a stiff right hand.
Grasso connects with a nice looking jab.
Grasso closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Dickinson wants to clinch up but Grasso keeps it at a distance.
Grasso throws an overhand right that lands on Dickinson's shoulder, as Dickinson tries to avoid the shot.
Dickinson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Dickinson throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Grasso counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Grasso scores with a nice head shot.
Dickinson ducks under a wild hook from Grasso.
Grasso looks to land a combination but Dickinson avoids it well.
Grasso moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Dickinson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Grasso's half guard.
Grasso is trying to get back to full guard.

Grasso is trying to stand.

Dickinson wants to work for an arm triangle but Grasso is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Grasso is positioning himself well to prevent Dickinson advancing to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grasso is trying to control but can't.
Grasso is trying to control but Dickinson passes into side control!

Dickinson has hold of Grasso's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Grasso tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Dickinson cranks the arm and Grasso screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Grasso, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). David Dickinson!
David Dickinson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
